NA44 experiment

Experimental Area

The following pictures is a part of hole, the left-middle in picture is the place for NA44 experimnt. The detectors are sourounded by concrete brooks due to shield for neutrons. The heavy ion beam pass in vacuum pipe from righthand side.

Counting room

• The experimental data is recorded to magnetic tape after it is degitized. The left picture is modules to manage the data. You can only see a lots cables from this size. It looks complex system, but it is small system in recent high energy experimnt. The next door is a room to minitor and check the data. We call these room as 'counting room'.
• The middle picture shows some people before Five o'clock meeting start. In this meeting, shift member report the status of data and what happen during the shift and we discuss about data setting in next shift. We call the meeting as "Five o'clock meeting' because it start from 5:00PM.
• In the right picture, it is cat which was living in the north aria. She looves a place on a monitor because of warm place. By the way, it is a stuffed toy on the shelf.

Mid run party

These pictures are some shots in the mid-run party in the run period of 1995. We hold it just outside of counting room with not only collaborator but also technicians of CERN. Since we were taking the data, some shift crew have to work in the counting room. :-p
